A versatile performer
An alumna of the Dutch National Opera Studio in Amsterdam, Elenora has been steadily building repertoire and honing her craft on the mainstage of one the world’s leading opera houses. In 2025 she will make her debut at the Teatro Nacional de São Carlos in the role of Amina in Bellini’s La Sonnambula
As a recitalist, Elenora intertwines her love for literature and poetry into evocative performances. She frequently gives recitals throughout the Netherlands featuring a wide range of repertoire. For the 2023/2024 season, Elenora has collaborated with pianist Amy Chang in creating several song recital programmes spanning from the evocative narratives of Schubert, to the tender verses of Liszt and the exciting contemporary works of Jake Heggie.
Elenora Hu brings a heartfelt touch to oratorio performances. Among her repertoire are: Brahms’ Ein Deutsches Requiem, Rossini’s Petite Messe Solenelle and Stabat Mater, and Bach’s St. Matthew and St. John Passions.
2023/2024 Offered exciting new performance opportunities with the Netherland’s biggest orchestras. Among them were performances at the with Het Nederlands Kamerorkest and Sinfonia Rotterdam. Elenora also went on tour with orchestra Phion and fellow soprano Francis van Broekhuizen. Under the baton of maestro George Petrou, Elenora sang a selection of arias ranging from the virtuosic fireworks of Rossini to the soaring dramatic heights of Madama Butterfly in commemoration of a hundred years Maria Callas.
In 2021 Elenora was the first winner of the televised opera competition ARIA by OmroepMAX. Aside from winning a scholarship at the Dutch National Opera, the competition also cemented her reputation as one the Netherland’s leading sopranos. She has since regularly appeared on television in both performances and interviews.
Elenora is well acquainted with the different media outlets in connection with her craft on the live stage. In 2021 she collaborated with soprano Roberta Alexander, pianist Gilbert den Broeder and radio presenter Hein van Eekert on the programme “American Songs Remembered.” A celebration of American music lesser known outside the USA.
