The Dutch soprano Elenora Hu is a graduate of the esteemed Dutch National Opera Studio in Amsterdam. Her achievements include wins at respected competitions such as the Grachtenfestival Conservatorium Concours (2019), the Royal Virginia Zeani Competition (2019), the televised ARIA opera competition (2021) in the Netherlands and Belgium, and the IVC LiedDuo competition alongside pianist Amy Chang in 2023.
In 2021, Elenora made her debut at the Dutch National Opera in the opera “Anansi” composed by Neo Muyanga, marking a significant milestone in her career.
Since joining the Dutch National Opera (DNO) Studio in 2022, Elenora has embraced a variety of roles. These include performances in “Dido and Aeneas,” “Operettaland,” and “L’Amico Fritz.” She has also showcased her vocal talent in oratorios such as “Ein Deutsches Requiem,” “Johannes Passion,” and “Matthäus Passion.”
In 2023, Elenora continued to expand her repertoire. Roles included the Grieving Woman in the Opera Forward Festival production “Ändere die Welt” and the 2nd Nymph in “Rusalka.” She also participated in collaborative projects with the Nederlands Kamerorkest (NKO) under the direction of Christof Loy. The project titled Kings and Queens featured works by G.F. Händel.
Later in the same year, Elenora made her debut at De Grote Zaal in Het Koninklijk Concertgebouw. Alongside conductor François Leleux and the Dutch Chamber Orchestra she sang Rossini arias and duets. Aditionally, she toured the Netherlands with fellow soprano Francis van Broekhuizen. The tour commemorated a hundred years Maria Callas and was organised by the Phion Orchestra. Conductor was maestro George Petrou.
In 2024, Elenora began the year with a bang with Sinfonia Rotterdam. The performances included a successful debut at the Grote Zaal at De Doelen Rotterdam. She also performed at Amare in The Hague.
In April 2024 Elenora will make her debut as Amina in La Sonnambula at TivoliVredenburg in Utrecht.
2025/2026 Elenora will make her debut at Teatro Nacional de São Carlos in Lisbon as Amina in La Sonnambula.
Furthermore, she will reprise her role as Princess Galathea in Operettaland at Dutch National Opera.
Elenora excels in both opera and lied performances. She performs often on stages across the Netherlands, including TivoliVredenburg in Utrecht and the Muziekgebouw aan ‘t IJ. Notable appearances also include Het Koninklijke Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. In 2021, she collaborated on ‘American Songs Remembered’ for NPO Radio 4. A collaboration with soprano Roberta Alexander and pianist Gilbert den Broeder. A celebration of American lied and opera composers rarely performed in Europe.
In 2023 Elenora and pianist Amy Chang were laureates at the International Vocalist Competition LiedDuo in Den Bosch. In 2024 they will tour the Netherlands presenting both art songs and other classical repertoire.
